Electrical Testing & Inspection

The two main risks associated with electricity are electric shock and fire. Over time, installations and wiring can deteriorate, which in turn can create heat or even fire. Regular testing of electrical installations and appliances guards against the risks of injury to personnel and damage to property.

Testing and inspection of electrical circuits, supply and appliances forms part of any good maintenance regime and is required by law. A.H.T. ELECTRICAL Ltd use the latest test equipment, hold up to date qualifications and provide a first class service.

Whilst installations appear to be in good condition, with no obvious faults, it is essential to establish procedures that ensure safe electrical installations are safe and comply with regulations. A.H.T. ELECTRICAL Ltd can provide a periodic inspection report, which is a comprehensive and detailed check of an electrical installation covering all areas including:

• Earthing and bonding
• Insulation resistance
• Correct use of fuses
• Circuit breakers
• RCDs
• Advice on remedial work

All electrical equipment is subject to wear and tear during use and should be tested on a regular basis to demonstrate it is safe to use. 25% of reportable accidents involve a portable appliance. The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self employed persons to take practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.

Recommended testing periods can be found in the current IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671. They vary from once a year to once every five years, depending on the environment and the use of the installation.
