Can you just swap the fittings like for like?
Often, yes — and where the existing layout works, that is the quickest and cheapest option. Where it does not, we will say so, because a straight swap of a bad layout just gives you brighter dark spots.

Will LED actually cut our running costs?
LED fittings draw considerably less power than the fluorescent and discharge fittings they usually replace, and they do not dim off as they age. How much you save depends on what you are replacing and how many hours the lights run, which is part of what we look at when quoting.

Can the work be done without shutting down?
Usually. Lighting upgrades lend themselves to phasing — a section at a time, in the evening or over a weekend — so the building can keep operating while it happens.

Can you add sensors and controls?
Yes. Presence detection and daylight control are worth doing where areas are used intermittently, so lighting is not running in an empty part of the building.

Do you upgrade emergency lighting at the same time?
It is usually sensible to. If the main scheme is being relaid, the escape lighting is best reviewed alongside it, and we can install, test and certify that as part of the same job.
