House rewiring in Wellingborough
Full and partial rewires for older properties — phased so you can stay in the house, and certified circuit by circuit as we go.
Rewiring
Most houses do not need everything doing
The word rewire makes people think of bare floorboards and a month in a rented flat. In plenty of properties it does not have to be that. What is often needed is the consumer unit bringing up to date and the worst circuits replacing, not every cable in the building.
So the first thing we do is find out which it is. An inspection of the existing installation shows what is sound, what is tired and what is genuinely unsafe, and that tells you whether you are looking at a full rewire or a partial one.
Whichever it turns out to be, the work is installed to the 18th Edition of the BS 7671 wiring regulations, tested and certified — and because we are Part P registered, notifiable work in dwellings is registered as well.
Scope of work
What a rewire covers
Whole house or just the circuits that need it, phased around how you live.
-
Full rewires
Every circuit replaced, from the consumer unit out, with new accessories throughout.
-
Partial rewires
Just the circuits that need replacing, where the rest of the installation is sound.
-
Consumer unit upgrades
Modern boards with RCD protection, replacing rewireable fuses and older units.
-
First & second fix
Carcassing before plastering, final fix after decoration, worked to your programme.
-
Extra circuits while open
The cheapest time to add sockets, outside power or an EV supply is while floors are up.
-
Earthing & bonding
Main and supplementary bonding brought up to current requirements as part of the job.
-
Landlord & rental rewires
Remedial rewiring where an EICR has come back unsatisfactory, then re-certified.
-
Certification
Tested and certified on completion, and registered under Part P where notifiable.

Common questions
Your questions, answered
The questions we are asked most about rewiring work. If yours isn't here, just ask — we don't charge for straight answers.
-
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
The reliable answer comes from an inspection rather than the age of the house. Rubber or fabric-covered cable, a fuse board with rewireable fuses, no RCD protection and sockets with round pins are all signs, but an EICR tells you what is actually there and what condition it is in.
-
Do I have to move out?
Usually not. Most of the rewires we do are phased so the house stays liveable — power and hot water kept on, one area at a time. It takes a little longer that way, but it is far less disruptive than clearing out.
-
Will you make good the walls and floors?
We chase and lift what the work needs, and we will tell you before we start what that means for your decoration. Plastering and decorating are usually handled by your own trades, and we will sequence around them.
-
Can I add sockets and outside power at the same time?
Yes, and it is much the cheapest time to do it. While floors are up and walls are open, extra circuits — outside sockets, a garage supply, an EV charge point — cost a fraction of what they would as a separate job later.
-
What certificate do I get?
An Electrical Installation Certificate on completion, covering the work carried out and the testing behind it, plus Part P registration where the work is notifiable. Keep it — it is what a buyer, solicitor or insurer asks for.
-
How much does a rewire cost?
It depends on the size of the property, how many circuits are being replaced and what the access is like, so we price each one individually after looking. Quotes are free and carry no obligation.
